Who Taught The First Teacher

A teacher is someone who educates and guides others. A teacher motivates and influences the minds of the students to become better individuals. A teacher or a mentor can make or break nations. In other words, the glory and fate of the nation lie in the hands of its teachers.

However, if we were to believe in Greek mythology, then we would consider that God Chiron taught the first teacher because this Greek God is capable of delivering knowledge. Apart from Greek mythology, several other mythologies are present that refer to a God or Goddess of knowledge as the first teacher. Muslims have unflinching faith in the fact that Allah, the Almighty, is the source of all knowledge and guidance. It is believed that Allah created human beings and taught them the names of different things.

Teachers And Their Impact On Students’ lives

If the teachers are honest in their profession and pay due attention to their students, no one can stop those students and ultimately that nation from achieving and discovering great things. If the teacher has a positive outlook on life, it reflects in his or her students as well. With sincere efforts, teachers can inculcate positive attributes in their students.

Teachers are the future makers of a nation. They play an important role in the lives of their students and these students when they grow up, serve the country and ultimately make the world a better place to live. The contributing roles that the students and teachers are playing in the development of a nation highlight the importance of education and the wonders that it can create.

We all have that one teacher, be it a formal or informal one, who encourages us to become responsible individuals and has a positive impact on our lives. Owing to the goodness and efforts of that teacher, many students aim to become a teacher one day.

What is the Importance Of Teacher’s Training?

As the world is progressing by leaps and bounds, it has become very important to equip teachers with the latest ways of teaching. Only explaining the theory is not going to help the young, inquisitive minds anymore.

Students learn better through the use of audio-visual aids. If the teachers are trained well, only then can they perform better and guide their students to the best of their abilities  Teacher training ensures that the teachers can convey the topics and ideas to their students in the most effective manner.

Having said all this, have you ever considered who the first teacher was?

From Where Did this Process Of Learning Begin?

Well, these are the type of philosophical questions that might cross the mind of every student once in a while as we might think that the first teacher would have been taught by someone or something at least.

Though there are several assumptions about the beginning of the teaching process and who taught the first teacher, there is no clear evidence or findings about this particular topic. We might infer that the first teacher might be a self-taught individual having an in-depth insight into various issues and a philosophical approach towards life. That person might have conveyed his or her findings to a group of people. Then those students might have delivered those findings along with some additional ones with their group of students. Doesn’t that sound reasonable? Well, to us, it does.

Were There Any Vocational Schools in Ancient Times?

Master – apprentice system was followed back in the days, where the master referred to a person who had a skill and he or she used to teach that particular skill to a dedicated student who lived with the master and dedicate his or her life to excel in that particular skill.

This system of masters and students was widespread in medieval Europe. If a person had good artistic skills (pottery, painting, poetry) or exceptional craftsmanship, then he or she would teach those particular skills to the students. After seeking considerable knowledge from the master, the student would leave his or her homeland to seek knowledge from the masters of that particular skill living in other areas. In this phase of learning, the student was referred to as the “journeyman”.

When the journeyman learned a skill from a master, he was awarded a certificate which was like a diploma that was proof of a journeyman’s knowledge and capabilities. This journey of learning continued and the journeyman used to go from one master to the other to seek knowledge. After gaining absolute familiarity with a subject, the journeyman goes back to his or her hometown (which was referred to as the “Guild” back in those days) where he had to appear in an exam. The exam or skill test was conducted by a panel of masters who would analyze the craftsmanship of the journeyman. If the journeyman would clear the exam by satisfying the masters and exhibiting good quality work, then the status of that journeyman was raised to the “Master”. This new master was then allowed to have students of his own and he used to convey his learnings to new journeymen.

Who Was the First Teacher Of the World?

Confucius (561 BC) is considered the most learned man of all time. He was an eager young man and was the first person who opted to teach as a profession. Back in the day, education was only available to the members of noble and royal families. Confucius belonged to one of the royal families and was among the very few who had a keen interest in learning and developing new skills.

Socrates is also among the first teachers who introduced the concept of teaching and learning. More than 2400 years have passed since Socrates conducted his last class but the teaching methodologies that he introduced are still being used widely.

From Where Did the Concept Of Education Begin?

The whole concept of education is so sophisticated and has brought about many positive changes and revolutions in the world. But, have you ever thought about who the man behind this system was?

Horace Mann is the one. He introduced the modern system of schooling when he was appointed as the Education secretary in Massachusetts around the 1830s.  He brought forward the concept of curriculum and evaluation. Horace Mann believed that formal education is the only way to ensure effective learning. He was of the view that professional teachers should teach the learners in a formal setting, making use of all the available teaching and learning tools. After the learning process ends, students should appear in a formal exam that would reflect the learnings of the students.

CONCLUSION

Teachers, who are honest in their profession, carve the way to success for their students. They teach and guide their students without being envious and always want their students to achieve the best in their lives.

Since we have learned about the beginning of this chain of teaching and learning process. It’s time for you to comment down below about your favorite school time teachers.
